JMJ2013: Voluntários filipinos promovem corrida para custear a viagem

No dia 7 de abril, os filipinos da cidade de Davao vão se reunir na corrida “Run for Rio”, ou “Correndo para o Rio” em português. O objetivo é arrecadar o valor para pagar a viagem dos cinco voluntários internacionais selecionados da cidade. Eles precisam de 150 mil PhP, o que equivale a cerca de R$ 7.500,00 (sete mil e quinhentos reais).

“A corrida vai acontecer primeiramente na cidade de Davao. O evento está sendo organizado pelos voluntários internacionais oficiais das Filipinas, mas as pessoas podem nos dizer se estão interessadas em estender sua ajuda, especialmente na organização da corrida”, explica Perry Paul Galario Lamanilao, um dos organizadores.

De acordo com Lamanilao, as expectativas pela JMJ são muitas e os desafios também. “Há muitas expectativas espiritual, física, mental e emocionalmente. No entanto, um dos maiores desafios agora é levantar fundos para enviar todos os voluntários da cidade de Davao ao Brasil”.

Lamanilao explica que o custo alto da viagem não desanima os filipinos que estão empenhados na arrecadação do valor. E ele ainda deixa uma mensagem aos voluntários que enfrentam a mesma dificuldade. “Lembrem-se que a cada dia nós devemos servir ao Senhor com alegria. Servir ao Senhor significa servir aos outros que estão especialmente em necessidade. Todos temos a necessidade de alguma coisa - amor, tempo, cuidados e compaixão. E assim, viremos de diferentes regiões do mundo, reunindo nossas orações para louvar a Deus e amá-lo ainda mais. A JMJ, para mim, não é apenas um evento, é um dia de mudança de vida para todos nós fiéis leigos. Uma grande voz. Uma fé forte. Uma Santa Católica e Apostólica Igreja. Que a Santíssima Virgem Maria, mãe de Deus nos prepare e rogue por nós, com todos os coros de anjos e santos no céu para a JMJ 2013. Nosso amor e orações a todos”.

Lamanilao conta ainda que pessoas de qualquer idade podem participar da corrida. Não há separação por idade ou peso. “As inscrições foram divididas em categorias, há corridas de 3, 5, 12 e 21 km. A taxa de inscrição é para nos ajudar com as despesas e, claro, recolher fundos para nosso grupo de voluntários. Ela depende da escolha dos quilômetros a serem corridos”, finaliza.

Dialogando con la comunità del Movimento dei Focolari presente ad Aleppo è nato il progetto di sostenere una piccola scuola di ragazzi sordomuti (bimbi e bimbe, cristiani e musulmani). Questi bambini, sordi e muti alla guerra, alle divisioni e alle radicalizzazioni religiose, sono sembrati subito come la parabola della Siria futura, se davvero vuole uscire da questa tragedia.

Questa scuola di ascolto e di dialogo, composta attualmente di due classi, ha funzionato anche nel 2011/12 con lo stesso numero di classi dell’anno precedente e ha offerto servizi a 23 bambini, in maggioranza musulmani. Il personale è composto da una direttrice, sei insegnati, due logopediste e tre aiutanti delle insegnati, una bidella e due autisti.. Uno di questi è stato colpito con la moglie e con la figlia da un mortaio, mentre camminavano per strada. La moglie e la figlia sono morte sul colpo, mentre l’autista è rimasto gravemente ferito.

Dunque una scuola martire nel tempo della guerra, che appare, nelle sue ferite, come un segno per il tempo nuovo che deve venire. I bambini sordomuti rappresentano il loro essere sordi ai rumori della guerra, che altri hanno cominciato e condotto fino ad oggi, convinti che il rumore delle armi cambi la storia. Questi bimbi, musulmani e cristiani, nella loro impotenza raccontano il proprio no alla guerra, che distrugge ogni futuro, in particolare quello degli innocenti.

"Adopt a tree"

As a follow-up to the Genfest 2012 in Budapest, the Youth for a United World in Albania launch the United World Project with a concrete proposal to revive their forests destroyed by fires.

Many hectares of forest were devoured by fires in different countries during the European summer last year as was the case in Albania. The Youth for a United World of this country decided to launch to their peers the idea of purchasing trees that they wanted to plant together in the burned areas. Hence the project name: “Adopt a tree”.

They wrote from Albania saying: “Feverish preparations were being made for this meeting since many weeks with many unexpected occurrences, such as the concurrence with the national holiday of the 100^th anniversary of the country’s Independence. Many universities were closed for a few days and therefore many young people had returned to their home towns”.

Notwithstanding this situation, the 80-seat hall was packed with 140 young people who arrived in Tirana on the 28^th and 29^th November to spend two days as a follow-up to the experience lived at the Genfest in Budapest.

They shared: “The strongest and most beautiful experience we made was during the preparation of this meeting along together with a group of young people who had participated with us at the Genfest. They were at the forefront. Some took care of the meals, others the choreography, singing, testimonies, translation and dubbing of videos, presentations, etc…

“We felt very united among us. It gave us the strength to invite our friends by helping them find ways to remain in the city, even if some of the boarding schools were closed”.

The meeting was entitled “Do unto others as you want others to do unto you”, the golden rule present in almost all religions. During the two-day program, besides listening to the main themes of the Genfest, the United World Project was explained. It is an initiative pursued by the Youth for a United World throughout the world.

They concluded saying: “The young people who took part in this meeting were happy with this experience of unity and reciprocal love. Many thanked us because they have seen that a more united world can be achieved. It is possible to change the world around us by changing ourselves in the first place and that we are not alone in doing so.”

Non è solo una firma. È molto di più l’impegno a sottoscrivere «Uno di noi», la campagna promossa dai Movimenti per la vita nei ventisette Paesi della Ue per arrivare al riconoscimento giuridico dell’embrione. Serve un milione di firme per far intervenire il legislatore europeo. Ma l’obiettivo è ben più ambizioso. Per questo adesso è il momento della mobilitazione con la possibilità di aderire anche online (sul sito www.oneofus.eu) al progetto. «Occorre un maggiore sforzo da parte di tutti, innanzitutto sul piano culturale, prima ancora che politico, affinché la cultura della vita, che sono certo sia maggioritaria tra la gente del nostro Paese, così come tra i popoli dell’intera Unione europea, abbia giusta considerazione, trovi spazio e sostegno», spiega Franco Miano, presidente nazionale di Azione cattolica, che insieme con numerose sigle del mondo delle associazioni e dei movimenti presenti in Italia ha firmato un appello a favore dell’iniziativa. Per Miano «serve un’opera educativa dell’uomo per l’uomo, della vita per la vita. Solo così si potrà agire contro chi, spesso per puro interesse politico o economico, per meschine convenienze di parte, sostiene il più delle volte politiche di fatto abortiste o comunque contrarie a ogni forma di rispetto della vita umana». Albania: Progetto “Adotta un Albero”

Oltre a tutte le nostre aspettative, 140 giovani rappresentanti di tutta l’Albania si sono trovati per continuare il Genfest nella loro terra.

“Da varie settimane fervevano i preparativi per questa giornata con tutti gli imprevisti che potevano succedere. Il primo fra tutti era la festa nazionale del centinario dell’Indipendenza e solo a poco prima abbiamo saputo che tante università sarebbero chiuse e perciò tanti giovani tornavano a casa per quei giorni.

Nonostante ciò abbiamo deciso di non cambiare data e di affidare a Dio tutto. Avevamo preparato la sala per circa 80 persone e invece erano molte di più.

La realtà più forte e bella che abbiamo vissuto è stata la preparazione fatta a corpo con un gruppo di giovani che avevano partecipato al Genfest e che si sono sentiti protagonisti in prima persona.

C’era chi si impegnava nella parte organizzativa (merenda, pranzo, coreografie, canti) e chi invece lavorava alle testimonianze, alla traduzione dei video e doppiaggio e alla presentazione.

Ciò ha portato a creare un piccolo gruppo che ha testimoniato l’unità e ha fatto sperimentare a ciascuno che insieme tutto è possibile e ha spronato molti a invitare i propri amici e a trovare le soluzioni per rimanere in città anche se alcuni convitti avevano chiuso. 

La giornata aveva come titolo “Fare agli altri ciò che vorresti fosse fatto a te!” ed era suddivisa in 2 parti: la mattinata con esperienze e il tema di Emmaus al Genfest e nel pomeriggio la parte più concreta di spiegazione dell’United World Project e di una proposta concreta da noi chiamata “Adotta un Albero”. (Durante l’estate anche in Albania si sono bruciati vari ettari di boschi ed è quindi nata l’idea di acquistare degli alberi che poi possano essere piantati nelle zone bruciate).

La realtà dell’amore reciproco è stata la base di tutta la preparazione e di tutta la giornata ed è ciò che ognuno di noi ha sperimentato. 

I giovani presenti erano tutti felici di questa esperienza e tanti ci hanno ringraziato di aver donato loro questa possibilità di vedere che il Mondo Unito è realizzabile e che è possibile cambiare la realtà che abbiamo attorno, cominciando per primi, ma che non si è soli nel farlo.

Ci siamo lasciati dandoci appuntamento in Mariapoli dove vorremmo continuare a sperimentare questa realtà di unità e di reciprocità vissuta oggi e con in cuore un grazie a Dio che ha collaborato a piene mani alla realizzazione di questa giornata.”

Olanda, una catena di sms

Dalla GMG a Madrid, passando per il Genfest e per la Giornata dei giovani cattolici olandesi: piccole storie di Vangelo che contagia.

Una catena di sms contenenti una frase della Scrittura con cui poter concludere la giornata insieme: l’idea è nata da un gruppetto di volontari della Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù, tra cui Nard, – un giovane olandese dei Focolari – con il desiderio di trovare un momento comune della giornata in cui andare in profondità con Dio. I numerosi impegni e il lavoro per la GMG sembravano ostacolare in ogni modo questo proposito. Grazie al desiderio di restare uniti e ai mezzi di comunicazione utilizzati bene, quel gruppetto di volontari ha cominciato a scambiarsi una catena di sms con cui condividere qualcosa di prezioso della giornata vissuta. Questa catena non è terminata a Madrid, ma continua tutt’ora e il numero di giovani che vi aderisce continua ad aumentare.

È una delle storie raccontate con freschezza ed entusiasmo al Katholieke Jongeren Dag (Den Bosch, 4 novembre 2012), l’appuntamento annuale dei giovani olandesi, dove anche il Movimento dei Focolari è attivamente presente da anni nell’organizzazione e nello svolgimento della giornata.

Molti giovani olandesi ricordano ancora l’intervento nel 2010 dei genitori di Chiara Luce Badano e di Maria Voce l’anno scorso. Quest’anno i gen erano presenti nel comitato organizzativo, nei vari servizi di volontariato durante la Giornata stessa e con uno stand sullo United World Project, lanciato al Genfest, e sulla vita di Chiara Luce.

Riflessione: Una strada per tutti

Tratto da una riflessione¹ della sociologa Vera Araújo:

"(...) prima di inoltrarmi nei sentieri poco tracciati di un bosco piuttosto impervio, vorrei rifarmi ad un testo di Chiara Lubich che sempre mi ha colpito:
«… per farsi santi, basta fare la volontà di Dio. E’ stata una scoperta estremamente utile e meravigliosa. Ecco – dissi – una via buona per tutti, per uomini e donne, dotti e indotti, intellettuali ed operai, mamme e consacrate, laici e sacerdoti, giovani e anziani, governanti e cittadini… Ecco la via aperta alla santità per ogni essere umano. Mi sembrava di avere in mano la carta d’accesso alla perfezione, non soltanto per un’elite di persone – quelle chiamate al convento o al sacerdozio – ma per le folle» .
Davvero stupefacente, soprattutto se teniamo presente che per Chiara Lubich la santità significa l’essere umano “realizzato” nella sua piena maturità umano-divina . Questa universalità non esclude nessuna categoria di persone di qualsiasi latitudine e cultura; ma anche è posta e situata nella storia, vale a dire, nella propria vita professionale, comunitaria, civile, istituzionale. E’ in questi spazi che la volontà di Dio va incarnata come segno di vita nuova, come fermento che solleva la pasta.

“It is a dangerous risk to abandon ourselves to God.” And young people want to embark on this dangerous adventure, to jump into the fray by loving God in the midst of the world.

Young people always run to a challenge. If they are not enfeebled by moral entanglements, they are always enamoured by the supreme beauty of God. Then they are prepared to face the most daring battle, the battle of faith.

They love the non-gratifying challenges of purity, of self-denial and dedication. But if they hesitate in front of Christ, perhaps it is because they are only familiar with a deformed image of Him, having been presented with a weak, worldly, mediocre version of religion, one coated by compromise and minimized by so many adaptations, like a secondary, marginal or even semi-clandestine activity, or something senile and boring, labouring as it strives to keep up with the pace of the generations.

Yet if young people are able to discover the true face of Christ, if they are able to grasp the real essence of the Church, then they will be fascinated precisely by the risk which (living) the Gospel entails. During the Church’s adolescence, the Early Church Fathers had said: “It is a dangerous risk to abandon ourselves to God.” And young people want to embark on this dangerous adventure, to jump into the fray by loving God in the midst of the world.

They do not know what to do with a Christianity that has been scaled down to the size of today’s world as if it were some sort of seasonal fashion. They want a Christianity that can be called “great.” They want it immense.

At least once a year, many Christians become aware of the great diversity of ways of adoring God. Hearts are touched, and people realize that their neighbours’ ways are not so strange. 
The event that touches off this special experience is something called the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Traditionally celebrated between 18-25 January (in the northern hemisphere) or at Pentecost (in the southern hemisphere), the Week of Prayer enters into congregations and parishes all over the world. Pulpits are exchanged, and special ecumenical worship services are arranged.
Ecumenical partners in a particular region are asked to prepare a basic text on a biblical theme. Then an international group with WCC-sponsored (Protestant and Orthodox) and Roman Catholic participants edits this text and ensures that it is linked with the search for the unity of the church. 
The text is jointly published by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and WCC, through the WCC's Commission on Faith and Order, which also accompanies the entire production process of the text. The final material is sent to member churches and Roman Catholic dioceses, and they are invited to translate the text and contextualize it for their own use.

“SAN NICOLA DIVERSAMENTE”

I Giovani per un Mondo Unito della Polonia ci raccontano il loro “frammento di fraternità” costruito con i senzatetto che abitano vicino alla stazione di Varsavia

"Già l’anno scorso ci siamo impegnati all’azione “San Nicola diversamente” con la pastorale giovanile Studnia. Il nostro ruolo lo scorso anno è stato limitato a distribuire nel giorno di 6 dicembre i pacchetti già finiti. È stata un’esperienza forte e profonda.

Quest’anno abbiamo voluto ancor di più ripetere quest’esperienza, questa volta impegnandoci noi in prima fila ad organizzare tutto. Ci siamo messi a lavorare... per prima condividendo la nostra idea con tutta la comunità locale di Varsavia. Nell’e-mail mandato a tutti abbiamo proposto vari modi di partecipazione nel nostro progetto. Ad esempio: attraverso un sostegno spirituale - preghiere in questa intenzione, preparando insieme i biscotti, i panini, facendoci arrivare pacchetti già pronti da distribuire il 6 dicembre.
Sin dall’inizio abbiamo sentito la forza della preghiera, ed anche il sostegno finanziario - abbiamo raccolto circa 600 PLN (150 euro). Si avvicinava il giorno della distribuzione dei pachi ma per vari motivi il numero dei giovani diminuiva sempre di più... ma non perdevamo la pace dentro di noi. Una di noi ha raccontato del nostro progetto ad una collega di lavoro dicendo cosa avremmo messo nei pacchetti e che abbiamo ancora i soldi e ci chiedevamo che altro possiamo mettere nel pacchetto... All’improvviso ha tirato fuori 50 PLN con tanta gioia di poter partecipare in questo progetto ha chiesto di informarla sempre sulle azioni simili. Poi ha suggerito: forse potreste mettere anche i guanti? Ottima idea!

A science major travels to the Middle East to understand the struggle for peace there

“Aren’t you afraid, Donata?” I was asked this question several times before I left for the Middle East. But being the person I am, I had to see it for myself. This past summer, I was given the unique opportunity to participate in a course titled “Coexistence in the Middle East” through the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Along with almost 50 students from every continent, I had a glimpse of the challenges and complexities of coexistence in Israel, a land shared and claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians, where Jews, Christians and Muslims have their common roots.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into. First of all, I was a science major, and suddenly I was studying about the confluence of Western and Middle-Eastern civilizations. Until then, Israel’s international relations with Arab and Muslim countries and Palestinian-Israeli relations had only been titles to me. I had never travelled to the Middle East.
On the first day, we walked for what seemed to be hours in the scorching heat to study Jerusalem’s historical centre, home to all three monotheistic religions. I was shocked to see the neighbourhoods divided by religion. Nonetheless, the words of John Paul II kept ringing in my ears, “If we can find peace in the Middle East, there will be peace in the whole world.”

Cuba: we are with you!

Santiago, Cuba. “The destruction caused by hurricane Sandy has caused much damage especially in Santiago. Reconstruction has not yet begun because the Government had also been taken by surprise. Indeed because of the geographical landscape of Santiago which is encircled by mountains, hurricanes usually arrive from the sea and since they are blocked by the natural barrier formed by the mountain range, generally they move away without leaving any damage. In this case the hurricane managed to enter and remain within the area for three hours, spinning like a kitchen blending machine. The damages suffered by sixteen families, with whom we are in contact with, amounts to 42,000 Euros. The money gathered through the United World Project, though insufficient, has already been handed to them. The time needed for reconstruction is difficult to estimate as it depends on the availability of the construction materials which is very scarce due to the embargo that afflicts the island since many years. The supply of such materials is usually very limited and random availability, thus slowing down any construction work. Presently, only limited quantities of cement, wood and reinforcement steel are available. When the required materials do reach the island, it is necessary to have the necessary funds on hand in order to purchase them before the supply runs out. We are grateful for the assistance we have already received as we continue to hope in everyone’s future support.”

UNITED WORLD PROJECT

The world around us urgently needs a SOUL: LOVE.
«We are living in a “historic turning-point.” We feel the birth pangs of a new world struggling to be born. But its birth requires a soul: love.
… In my contacts with individuals and groups of every religion, race and culture, I have discovered that love is imprinted in the DNA of every human being. It is the most secure, fruitful and powerful force that can unite the entire human family. But it demands a total paradigm shift in our hearts, mentality and choices.
The need to reinterpret the meaning of reciprocity, a key­stone in international relations, is already commonly felt in international life.
Now is the time for each nation to set its gaze ever further beyond its own boundaries and love other nations as its own.
Reciprocity among peoples could then overcome the old and new logic of partisan tactics and profit making in order to establish relations with all. They will be based on the attitude that “the other” is “another self,” part of the same humanity. Projects for disarmament, development and cooperation can be planned within this framework.
Such reciprocity can make all peoples, even the poorest, protagonists in international life, in the sharing of poverty and wealth, in the resolving of daily problems as well as emergencies. One’s identity and every one’s potential can flourish if they are put at the disposal of other nations and peoples, ever respectful of diversity and intent on furthering a spirit of reciprocal exchange.
If governments and we as individuals do our part, then yes, we can dream of composing a single planetary community.
Is it a utopia? Jesus was the first to sow the seeds for globalization when he said, “May they all be one” (Jn 17:21). He also made us capable of a love that can bring unity to the human family while respecting the diversity of its members.
If we look around, we can see many models of this “new humanity” spread throughout the world. Has the time come for a planetary project?»

Sardegna: A TUTTI I MAGNIFICI GMU

Grazie, grazie, infinitamente grazie per i bellissimi momenti vissuti insieme in occasione di questo Capodanno!!! Sarà impossibile dimenticare il principio del 2013 perché ogni istante è stato speciale, unico!!! Si è stati bene insieme a partire dalla preparazione del grande cenone e poi ancora nel corso di questa prima notte dell’anno, sino ad arrivare agli abbracci e auguri sinceri che ci siamo scambiati tra di noi quando, alle 05.00 circa, abbiamo concluso i fantastici festeggiamenti e pian pianino abbiamo lasciato la fantastica casa che ci ha ospitati!!! Tante, tantissime risate, bellissimi sorrisi, grande gentilezza e strabiliante simpatia: sono questi gli ingredienti del mix perfetto che ci ha dato lo spirito giusto per vivere l'attesa del nuovo anno in un clima di vera gioia e di strabiliante serenità!!! GRAZIE, GRAZIE, GRAZIE INFINITE A CIASCUNO DI VOI!!! Senza alcun dubbio il regalo più bello dell'anno che si è appena concluso siete stati voi, voi GMU, che siete stati la “Colonna Sonora” dei momenti più belli e siete stati capaci di trasmettere al mio animo tanta vitalità, tanta gioia, anche nei momenti più difficili da vivere e da superare!!! Una cosa è certa: siete gli amici migliori che la vita potesse regalarmi!!! Il 2013 sarà un grande anno, ne sono convinto!!! La strabiliante avventura che abbiamo intrapreso in passato continua!!! Syria: We are with you!

On the last day of 2012 our thoughts and efforts are still with the people suffering from war and natural disasters.
Aleppo, Syria. “Gasoline continues to be lacking and what little can be found is sold at exorbitant prices. The same is true for oven gas tanks (5,500 LS compared to 400 LS in March). The electricity has been cut for days and days, leaving the city in a threatening darkness after sunset. Bread is also scarce and it can only be purchased after spending long hours in line, in front of baker’s shops and paying 250 LS for one package (compared to the March price of 20 LS). The army is trying to provide bread, but isn’t able to keep up with the need of the people. School buildings that have not been transformed into havens for refugees are continuing to hold classes. But the lack of electricity makes studying toilsome and difficult (there aren’t even candles anymore). Some have begun to fall ill because of the cold and lack of medicines. Nearly 70% of the pharmacies are on the outskirts of the city and it is quite difficult to obtain medicines from other regions of the country because of road blocks. It is feared that hospitals will soon be unable to continue providing care because oxygen begins to be lacking. Telephone communications are often interrupted. In spite of it all the population is giving quite a great witness of solidarity. The Focolare community and others are taking care of support activities: a small school for the deaf has restarted in a safer area, in a location offered by the Franciscan Fathers. The families that we are visiting one by one, ask us before agreeing to receive our assistance: ‘Isn’t there some other family that is more in need than we are?’ Rim, who has a two-year old boy, was quite concerned that the boy’s cold would worsen, and she was very touched by the help that we were able to provide! It was exactly the same amount of money that her husband had given away a week earlier to a colleague who was in need. It had taken the couple a long time to save up that amount of money, but they had said to each other: ‘God will take care of us!’”

Riparte il “Time Out” per la pace

Di fronte alle guerre assurde che insanguinano il pianeta, solo Dio può venire incontro al bisogno di pace dell’umanità. Ogni giorno a mezzogiorno, un momento di preghiera per chiedere la pace.

È la proposta di Maria Voce ai 350 giovani dei Focolari provenienti da vari Paesi, riuniti a Castel Gandolfo, per esserne primi portatori in tutto il mondo. Sollecitata dalle notizie giunte attraverso alcune lettere dei membri dei Focolari in Medio Oriente, Maria Voce, esprime alla platea un desiderio.

Di fronte “a queste guerre assurde, solamente Dio può venire incontro al bisogno di pace che c’è nell’umanità. Ci vorrebbe veramente una preghiera forte, potente”, “con una fede rinnovata che Dio può farlo, che se si chiede in unità Dio viene incontro”.

Allora la proposta: “Perché non ripristinare a mezzogiorno, il time-out?”, in gergo sportivo una sospensione temporanea del gioco. “Chiara Lubich lo aveva lanciato – continua Maria Voce – durante la guerra del Golfo nel 1991, e in quel momento Dio ha ascoltato le preghiere di tutti”.

Riprendiamo la pratica del Time Out, dunque, con i giovani in prima linea. “Gesù è chiamato il Principe della Pace”, conclude Maria Voce, chiedendo che faccia dono all’umanità di “quella pace giusta, che permetta a tutti, di qualsiasi fede, condizione, Paese, di vivere serenamente la vita; che condivida questo dono della Pace con tutti gli uomini”.

Con un tam-tam sui Social Network i giovani hanno già cominciato a diffondere la notizia creando su Facebook l’evento Time Out for peace.

Appuntamento per tutti a mezzogiorno, nelle nostre città, per chiedere, uniti, il dono della pace.
