LOPPIANO 1° MAGGIO: FARE IL PRIMO PASSO

Messaggio di Maria Voce (Emmaus) per i giovani presenti il 1° Maggio a Loppiano

"Carissimi giovani,

sono felicissima di salutarvi, tutti voi che siete venuti a Loppiano e anche tutti quelli che sentiranno questo saluto.

E dirvi, si, qualcosa che mi sta molto a cuore. Cioè, voi avete pensato questa giornata di oggi come una giornata di festa comune. Però la festa suppone un incontro e per incontrarsi bisogna camminare.

Voi l’anno scorso avete progettato di costruire ponti, abbiamo fatto un GenFest in cui abbiamo visto quanto può essere faticoso anche costruire un ponte.

Ma anche dopo averlo costruito, se non si cammina su questo ponte, rimane un materiale inerte, un materiale che non serve.

E allora, il ponte serve proprio per unire. Serve proprio per incoraggiarvi ad attraversarlo per incontrarvi. E guardatevi intorno: magari c’è qualcuno che non ha il coraggio di fare il primo passo. Fatelo voi per loro. Magari c’è qualcuno che ha cominciato e poi si è fermato perché la salita è troppo alta. Allora andategli incontro, attraversate anche il culmine. Magari qualcuno farà dieci passi e voi ne dovete fare novanta per incontrarvi.

Non vi stancate, non vi stancate. Il ponte c’è per questo. Fare il primo passo significa voltarvi verso il giovane che avete affianco e dirgli, se potete, o se non potete dimostrargli, che veramente siete pronti a fare qualcosa per lui, con lui.

Qualunque sia la sua provenienza, qualunque sia la sua idea, qualunque sia il suo stato di vita in questo momento, voi siete pronti a incontrarlo. E in questo incontro io credo che è il primo passo, che poi vi porterà sempre più avanti, che porterà sul ponte la moltitudine dei giovani.

Cioè sarete tutti su un unico ponte, su un unico ponte da cui poi partirete per il mondo a costruire veramente questo mondo unito che abbiamo sognato insieme al GenFest, e che però abbiamo anche visto possibile.

Visto possibile proprio per questi ponti che avete costruito e che adesso volete attraversare.

Coraggio, il primo passo è certe volte il più costoso, il primo passo, è il più difficile da fare. Ma abbiate coraggio, lo facciamo insieme. Vi ringrazio."

Lots of greetings from Fontem, Cameroun!

It is a great joy to let you know that we too have been very present at the link-up yesterday from Jerusalem.

It marked the beginning of our youth day meeting together with 200 young people gathered at the Mariapolis Centre of Fontem. It has been a very lively and joyful occasion for many young people who expressed the desire to be invited again for such meetings.

The Y4UW were so actively involved and everyone expressed the force of unity they felt from the moments of preparation and the climax of it yesterday.

Holy Land Day 8

Our trip to the Holy Land ends tonight ...

Thanks to the live streaming and the satellite broadcast through Telepace and Telepadrepio it was possible to link together the 200 young people present here at the ‘Steps' of Jerusalem with a large number of Youth all over the world (we do not know yet how many ...)

Highly successful link up with Loppiano (Florence), Mumbai and Budapest ... Distances were annulated! We were one!

Before concluding the link up, an olive tree was planted as a sign of brotherhood in the park that will be built in the place where the event took place!

Finally it was announced to all, the city that will host the opening of the United World Week 2014: Nairobi!

A big thanks to everyone for having joined us!

The journey to the Holy Land comes to an end, but the United World Project is just beginning!

Holy Land Day 7

Another great day! The TimeOut4Peace was done in the basilica-fortress that surrounds the Holy Sepulchre. The Golgotha was the next we visited.

In the afternoon, a unique meeting: Christians and Hebrews together in a Synagogue in a profound interchange enriched by the presence of a Muslim who like the others also shared his experience of interreligious dialogue.

Two youth for a united world, 

Nali from Portugal and Lara from Jerusalem, shared how they live fraternity in their everyday life.

Enthusiasm and total commitment filled up the Kehilat Yedidya Synagogue and heart of everyone.

Sad to say that tomorrow is the last day of this wonderful, magnificent , unforgettable journey in this splendid place, the Holy Land.

In the morning we’ll visit the famous Western Wall, also known as Wailing Wall. 

In the afternoon, our most awaited moment together:
3:00 pm – flashmob & peace rally from Jaffa Gate to the “Ancient Roman Steps”.

4:00 pm –  leaving a visible mark near the “Ancient Roman Steps”

5:30 pm – World Wide Link-Up* from the “Steps” (Follow the live streaming at http://live.focolare.org/uww2013/.): End of the Genfest year & opening of the United World Week 2013. A two-way link-up with Hungary (Budapest- local time 4:30pm), India (Mumbai-local time 8:00pm), Italy (Florence-4:30pm) and Switzerland (UN Geneva-local time 4:30pm).

Then celebration “in family”.

Holy Land Day 6

Our adventure went on: early morning visit to Capernaum, places that remind us of the figure of the Apostle Peter. Being stones like Peter, on which we want to build solid bridges of love and fraternity.

Then the crossing of Lake Tiberias, during which we made the TimeOut4Peace and some reflections on the various events that happened 2,000 years ago on the lake: the call of the 12, Jesus walking on water, calming of the storm ... We also feel "called", we also need to see miracles in our lives, we also have storms to be 'calmed down'. But above all, we aim to put love at the center of our relationships, both among ourselves and with others whom we come to meet... And this love, the love brought by Jesus, can do wonders, and can calm all the storms of life.

Right after lunch, we headed to the Mount of the Beatitudes. A beautiful and silence place, with a great view over Tiberias Lake. For us the Beatitudes coud be considered pillars in any attempt to build bridges with people...

Evening in Haifa: Genverde e Genrosso concert with local youth. After a series of workshops, there they were: full of energy and most of all, giving witness that a united world is really possible, not only, it is already in action!!

Today back to Jerusalem: the Cenacle and the Holy Sepulchre. At 7pm we will be at the Symposium "Finding the humanity of other" at the Kehilat Yedidya, an Orthodox synagogue.

Gen Rosso and Gen Verde Concert from Technion in Haifa

a week long programme made up of musical, choreography and theatrical performance workshops were held all over Galilee in preparation for tonight's concert in the Technion Institute in Haifa.
Around 1.000 youth are expected and we look forward to comunicate our ideal of a United World with as many people as possible.
During this concert, the United World Project will also be launched.

Holy Land Day 5

New and exciting adventures filled up our day: in the morning a long trip towards the North. 1st stop Mount Tabor: as somebody said "an unforgetable experience of re-living Jesus' transfiguration and its consequences in our daily life." As everyday at noon, we dedicated a minute for the Timeout4Peace. "Being here in the Holy Land, I find this moment even more significant," a girl said.

In the afternoon, we headed to Nazareth. Places that speak with no words. The Church of Annunciation, where it's believe to be the place where the angel announced to Mary that she was going to become the mother of Jesus. 

Afterwards more than one of us said that they felt the impellent desire to say Yes to what God may want from them.

Then the day concluded with a beautiful moment of communion in which some of us shared what these days have been for them:

"In our Country, the media shows us the Middle East conflicts as the only things going on here... These days I discovered that there are so many beautiful things that are not shown: for example, the hospitality of its inhabitants are surprisingly great."

"Coming here was for me like a dream come true... And I'll always treasure this experience. No matter where we'll be, we'll always feel we're united."

Terra Santa Giorno 4

Continuando ‘sui passi di Gesù’, oggi una lunga camminata nel deserto, dove abbiamo fatto il Time Out per la pace e poi abbiamo proseguito per il Mar Morto. 

Due esperienze nuove e che ci rimangono impresse nel cuore, oltre alle mille possibilità di costruire ponti tra di noi e con ci è passato accanto. 

Domani in Galilea, Nazareth!!

Holy Land Day 3

A full morning of sharing at the University of Bethlehem: a workshop on reconciliation and peace! 

Fraternity lived in daily life, hidden to most people, is the focus of the conversation held with about 200 young people present at the Souborn Hall. The university itself is a striking example: its classes are composed by Christians and Muslims in peaceful coexistence, even though aware of their diversities. A young lady said: “I am happy to see with my own eyes that religion is not a division point but a starting point to build bridges.”

In the afternoon, visit to the Basilica of the Nativity: moments of deep emotion especially for Christians.

Tomorrow walk in the desert on the path of El Wadi Kelt, visit to Jericho, and then continue the Dead Sea.

Holy Land Day 2

“Ho potuto capire perché Gesù ha detto che le sue parole sono eterne... tutto può cambiare ma quello che Lui ha detto rimane.”

“Nel Getsemani Gesù ha sudato sangue, si è chiesto tanti perché... Se Lui  si è già fatto tante domande, non vale la pena che me le faccia anch’io: devo prendere la risposta che Gesù mi ha dato.”

Come vedete, la giornata è stata davvero ‘portentosa’: al  Monte degli Ulivi, al Getsemani e poi sulla Via Dolorosa a Gerusalemme.

Nel pomeriggio, l’atteso incontro col sindaco di Betlemme: una donna di pace! Abbiamo sperimentato una grandissima sintonia con lei: ci ha spronato a vivere la regola d’oro ricordandoci che per costruire ponti ci vogliono due cose: un cuore coraggioso e una volontà forte!

A domani, all’università di Betlemme!

Holy Land Day 1

Here we are at the end of our 1st day in the Holy Land. A very fruitful day! 

Morning: rest. In the afternoon: visit to Shepherd’s Field, Bethlehem.

After dinner, time dedicated to knowing each other better and presentation of the Holy Land from a historical, geographical and political point of view, culminating with a typical local dance. Everybody’s happy and willing to…………… BE THE BRIDGE!

Tomorrow the adventure goes on:

Jerusalem - Visit to the Mount of Olives, panorama of the Dominus Flevit, Gethsemane, “Suq” (typical market) of the old city.

Bethlehem - Meeting with the Mayor.

To end the day, dinner & meeting at the homes of the local youth.

È un richiamo esplicito al Genfest di Budapest “Let’s Bridge” dello scorso settembre il titolo che i giovani del Movimento dei Focolari hanno scelto per la Settimana Mondo Unito 2013. Evento centrale è il 1° maggio, con 4 punti forti di aggregazione: Gerusalemme, simbolo di pace; Loppiano, da sempre legata alla storia dei Giovani per un Mondo Unito; Mumbai, sulle vie del dialogo interreligioso; Budapest, la capitale che ha ospitato i 12mila giovani del Genfest. A rendere visibile questa rete mondiale già in atto, saranno i collegamenti live durante la giornata del 1° maggio, tra queste 4 città.

Essere ponti, dunque, gettare ponti di fraternità sulla linea dello United World Project (Progetto Mondo unito) che proprio al Genfest ha mosso i suoi primi passi. In questi mesi in diversi punti del pianeta, molti giovani hanno proseguito il cammino, cogliendo la “fraternità in atto” nel vissuto proprio e circostante, intensificando attività ed iniziative per sensibilizzare la pubblica opinione nei propri paesi, contribuendo come cittadini attivi a realizzare una cultura di pace e dialogo, dove la diversità e multiculturalità siano benvenute. Come a Chicago, dove i Giovani per un Mondo Unito insieme all’associazione Mosque Cares si sono trovati al centro culturale Ephraim Bahar per preparare 150 pasti, ‘kit di sopravvivenza’ e una selezione di abiti per uomo/donna da distribuire ai senza tetto del quartiere. O come a Montevideo, dove una delegazione di Giovani per un Mondo Unito dell’Uruguay, insieme ad alcuni professionisti impegnati nel settore dell’educazione, è stata ricevuta da María Paz Echeverriarza, la responsabile per l’area educazione della Rappresentanza dell’Unesco presso i governi di Argentina, Uruguay e Paraguay. Un’occasione per presentare lo UWP e raccontare della rete esistente attorno all’opera sociale Nueva Vida, da dove – pur in un contesto di emarginazione – sono partite, con successo, piccole aziende. E ancora la “Settimana della buona volontà”, in Serbia: in un centro culturale alternativo i giovani hanno realizzato forum di attivismo sociale, proiezioni di film, azioni per aiutare persone in difficoltà, fra cui – oltre la raccolta di viveri – anche la donazione del sangue.
