My warmest greetings to all, especially to those civil and religious leaders who, together with all of you, are participating in the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of Chiara’s departure for heaven.The events that are taking place on this occasion in many places all over the world are varied: in some cities streets, schools or parks are being dedicated to her; in others, Masses are being celebrated, presided over by bishops or cardinals; in still others small or big meetings are being held, organized at a local level in many different venues. Of particular importance there is an event in Trent, Chiara’s birth city, that will take place on March 12th. It is an international ecumenical gathering entitled: “Chiara Lubich, a charism for the unity of Christians.” It has been organized in collaboration with our “Centro Uno” that is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Everything is being done in thanksgiving to God for the gift of Chiara’s rich life. By promoting mutual love among individuals and peoples, in fact, she has opened up a dialogue at all levels, thus contributing to reaching peace and unity in the human family. Many people in places all over the earth, who live the “spirituality of communion” that she has left as her legacy, bear witness to this.
My very best wishes that the celebration of this 3rd anniversary may mark a renewed commitment on the part of each one of us to live so that Chiara’s desire may be fulfilled: “I am coming to you, my God (…), with my wildest dream: to bring you the world in my arms.”
