“We have spent a beautiful weekend in Budapest together with the Gen and Youth for a United World (Y4UW) from Slovakia, Austria and the area around Trent. We all gathered here in order to prepare the outdoor activities that will be held during the Genfest: 31st August to 2nd September, 2012. On Saturday morning, we dedicated some time to enter into the Genfest spirit. There was a great need to understand how each one of us was preparing himself or herself for this great event that will attract thousands of young people from all over the world. We all felt that it depends on how we try to put into practice the spirituality of unity in our day-to-day life, taking advantage of each present moment. We became more and more convinced that rather than concentrating on the organizational work these activities entaile, we should focus on the love that lies behind every action. This conviction gave us a frest start!
Later, we set off to various parts of the downtown area of Budapest. It was, in fact, quite tiring to visit all the possible locations (bridges, squares). We also divided ourselves into small groups in order to discuss the pro's and con's of every place we took into consideration. We were amazed on how easily we reached a common agreement! We also set up a work schedule for the coming months which we will communicate to all during the upcoming meetings.
Notwithstanding the work carried out, we also found time to just be together, to build unity among us - we went out for a dinner in the evening and this was a great chance to get to know each other better. Here are some pictures, to give you an impression about the atmosphere:
Many warm greetings from Budapest,
Rita and Ágoston
