START UP - Can you sing, dance, mime, juggle, or play an instrument? Would you like to present your talents in the Genfest program?!We are launching the START UP organization, an open stage that will kick off Genfest 2012, where you will be the protagonist!
You have the opportunity on Friday afternoon in the “open stage” program outside the sports arena to perform either as an individual or in a group.
The celebration will last three hours where the 12,000 young people from around the world will meet for the first time.
How to enroll and join the cast of START UP?
Very simple: fill in the application form below and send it to us via e-mail, startupgenfest@gmail.com , either in English or in Italian. Be sure to tell us briefly, who you are, where you come from, what you do in life and what you intend to propose for your performance. We will respond to let you know what time in the program you perform. Deadline: July 28th.
Please note these guidelines:
• Duration of performance: max. 7-8 minutes;
• The performances are presented in the language of your choice;
• Available: 1 cd player/MP3/PENDRIVE, 5 microphones on stands, 2 amplifiers, 220v electricity.
• You must be completely autonomous with your performance regarding equipment, musical instruments, costumes,
cables, wires, any technician / assistant to help you for the music or instruments, etc.;
• The stage (08 x 08 meters), outdoor without a roof, with a smooth concrete floor, no curtains, backdrop or dressing
rooms, with the public on 3-4 sides;
• It will not be possible to rehearse on the stage the days before.
• You must be present at the sports arena on Friday 31st August at 14:00

• If you do not speak English you must bring someone to help you translate either in Italian or in English from your
language;
• Given the large number of performances it is really important to respect the timetables on the program;
• Remuneration for the performances is not foreseen;
• Performances will not be accepted if the goal is only to promote a political, religious, or cultural orientation.
• After the Artistic Director of START UP accepts the performance, it will be automatically inserted in the lineup
program, up until all the slots have been filled. The Artistic Director will take into account the date of arrival of your
proposal therefore don’t waste time sending us your proposal!
• By accepting to participate, the performers automatically agree to: accept START UP rules and regulations, authorize
videos and photographs of their performance to be taken (to be used solely for Genfest purposes), and authorize the
prior to be used either in video or printed media without the author’s copyright.
• Participation in START UP is reserved for youth aged 18 years on or before 31 August 2012.
