Steps towards the Genfest: 2012 Schedule

Hello to everyone! We are the Youth for a United World (Y4UW) from Castanhal, Belém area, North Brazil and we are moving on with our Genfest preparations.

Some ideas have already started to “boil” and we think that these ideas could also be shared with Youth for a United World (Y4UW) living in other cities.

For example, the proposed "Talent Festival" should be built step-by-step through workshops with the Y4UW. In this way, all together we can create the criteria, bring out the talents, decide the motto and prepare all the works that are needed. It would be good to invite groups of young people of our own parish, neigbourhood and all the other youth we can get in contact with.

Below, please find the proposed schedule for 2012. Through this program we wish to unite work with pleasure, that is, everything will be decided during the Y4UW meetings, held on weekly or biweekly basis depending on each situation, forming work teams as needed.

We would like to present this program to the entire Focolare Community in order to work with them and get them involved in the proposed activities. This schedule is an outline of what we will present a project for companies seeking sponsorship for the Genfest, which will be the culmination of it all. We're very excited!

However, we always go together, think together, achieve together what Jesus between them suggest. Of course, we do not want to waste time, for “we do not know the day nor the hour ...”, do not want to bury our talents, but to make them multiply, and thus contribute for a united world, building bridges of brotherhood wherever necessary.

Genfest 2012

What is it?       It is a multicultural and inter-religious event promoted by young people from all over the world.

When?                         From 31^st August to 2^nd September,2012.

Where?                        Budapest – Hungary

10 STEPS

1 & 2. The culture of giving and being the first one to love - November and December 2011

We can always give: a smile, forgiveness, attention, our availability, our capabilities...

Actions:
Collecting food, toys and clothes in order to donate to the poor communities of Morrinho and Pantanal (18^th December at 16:00) - Request Panther Popcorn, Flamboyant and Mariza snacks and money for the tickets.

“Sharing of talents” packaging of goods, food, make music, graphics, computers work, etc..

Ask for financial support for the “sharing of talents.”

3. Take a look around you – 21^st January 2012:

Understanding the needs of people living around you and rekindle relationships, thus build bridges of brotherhood with Christians of various denominations, at home, at work.

Action:

Acts of personal love.

Presentation of the actions already implemented: sharing the experiences on the Social Networks and www.mondounito.net.

On 21^st January we will have the “Construction of the Festival”:

• Opening: “God is back in fashion”

• Choice of the subject

• Slogan

• Sponsorship

• Spreading

4. Give joy – February 2012:

Bingo on 5^th February, 2012.

Carnival: 18^th to 21^st February, 2012.

5. The Golden Rule – March 2012:

Selection of waste for recycling: Do your part!

Disclose in residential Baron of Rio Branco.

6. Peace – April 2012:

Actions: Walk for Peace; Dialogue with young people from other churches and other convictions.

7. Love everyone – May 2012

Actions: Super - Nova Festival.

8. Living for the other – June 2012

9. Start all over again – July 2012

10. Live the present moment – August 2012
