Who are the Youth for a United World (Y4UW)?

We Youth for a United World (Y4UW) are young people like everyone else with a deep rooted belief: "We believe it is possible to build a better world, in solidarity, where the identity of each human person is respected. We want to use every available means to foster unity, among generations; between groups and movements; among Christians of different denominations; between believers of different religions and persons who have no religious belief. We want to tear down the barriers that divide ethnic groups, races, peoples, cultures and social classes to reach universal brotherhood."
From time to time, we come together from all corners of the world to share our experiences and thus build a stronger unity among us. On these occasions we invite our friends, relatives, friends of our friends, university and work colleagues in order to share our joy with them. Our next upcoming event is called the Genfest and here is some information:
What is the Genfest?
The Genfest is a meeting of thousands of young people from all over the world, born from a prophetic intuition of Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement. It is an opportunity to share and encounter. It is an invitation to get moving, in the certain knowledge that we are all creators of both our own history and that of history in general. This is why each of us can contribute to breaking down the barriers of indifference, prejudice and selfishness.
Why?
A challenging goal: help bring about a united world - a deep longing of all humanity and a rising challenge of our times.
The strategy: is that of taking many different ways towards unity: between generations; between peoples; between ethnic groups; between those who have and those who don’t have; with those who suffer and are alone; to rebuild unity between humanity and nature; to break down the walls that divide us.
Where?
Budapest, one of the jewels of the Danube, will welcome the tenth Genfest: events will be taking place all round the city, but the Sports Arena will be the venue for the climax of the event.
The central message:
“We would like love to spread to every corner of the earth, bringing a greater unity to the religious as well as the human field, among individuals, groups and peoples.” (Chiara Lubich, La Coruña - Spain, 17.8.1989)
