The “United World Project” is a way of drawing people’s attention to humanity’s journey towards fraternity. Its purpose is to increase and spread the culture of fraternity, not only among the members of the Focolare Movement, but also in civil society and international institutions.
It aims at establishing an international and permanent Observatory on universal fraternity.
In striving for this ambitious goal, we felt the need to create a vast network of persons, belonging to all ages and different latitudes that have chosen universal fraternity as their way of life. Therefore, we have launched a worldwide campaign to collect signatures (we reached 80,000 signatures by March 2014). By signing we commit ourselves:
- to live the “Golden Rule” common to the great Religions: “Do to others what you would like them to do to you; do not do to others what you do not want them to do to you”;
- to support the future establishment of a “Permanent and International Observatory on fraternity” in order to spread and promote initiatives for fraternity experienced by individuals, groups and institutions.
- to request the recognition at an institutional and international level of another activity, now in its 17th year: the Y4UW “United World Week”, marked by fraternal initiatives aimed at influencing public opinion.
